Eventers are a unique breed of people, so it’s only fitting that they would have unique breeds of dogs. Over all four days of the event, there were dogs ranging from tiny dachshunds to Great Danes. I even got to meet some “famous” dogs too! Keep scrolling to check out what the dog scene looked like this year in Kentucky.
This Great Dane was excited as XC day started up. This little one sat like a statue. These two dogs were happy to be walking around XC. Lauren Kieffer walks the course on XC morning with her dachshund. More dogs walking around XC. There were so many dogs in golf carts. This big dog was sound asleep under the tailgate tent. This dog may have been my favorite… its expressions were priceless. I didn’t see many Weimeraners, but this one turned up on XC day. This dog’s name was “Boss” and he sat with his owner watching the crowds. This one caught my eye as I walked past with its unusual coloring. A little puff ball in the trade fair. More happy dogs, even inside the trade fair! Holden, Will Coleman’s dog who has his own credentials. He is also 12 years old and still walks the XC course. These two Labs had to be bribed to sit still. This poor guy looked a little hot, but I’m sure he deals with that a lot. I thought these girls were all sisters, but it turns out they are years apart… The Bassets we saw had a little trouble walking with their short steps. So many corgis were here this year. We saw several pugs, and they all had super curly tails. This dachshund was somehow a service dog. This picture is a little blurry since we were riding on a golf cart, but this man was walking his three dogs, and they all looked exactly alike. This puppy was happy as his owner gave him a pat. Here is a tired corgi on the job. This little one was ready to go home. All of the corgis (there were a lot) always seemed so happy. These two were inside the trade fair shopping with their owners. This calm rescue dog was named “Winnie” and had a Winnie the Pooh collar. Veggie, Jimmie and Dom’s dog. Pocket, Elisa Wallace’s little dog. Sophie, the deaf dog who is the Chronicle’s mascot.
Hahaha love this! When I was working the trade fair on Sunday, I saw one small dog slip loose from its leash. She got about halfway down the lane at the trade fair before someone scooped her up… her owner didnt even notice until someone tapped her on the shoulder… holding her dog.
I have to say that most of the dogs were incredibly well behaved.

Lovely blog. I didn’t know that owner’s dogs were such an important part of eventing. Thanks for the education.
